Adapted Properties

Allocation of adapted properties

In cases where a property has been fitted with adaptations, the Council will seek to match suitable applicants to the property.  This may mean that a higher priroty applicant will be bypassed in order to make best use of the adaptations eg,  where a property has been fitted with a stair lift, priority will be given to applicants who have been assessed by the Council as requiring this facility.

Currently residing in an adapted property

Households who apply to join the Homeseeker Register and are currently residing in a property owned by Basildon Council, which has been adapted to meet the needs of a disabled member of the household who no longer requires the adaptations or no longer resides with them, will be placed in Band B however properties where a level access shower is the only adaptation will not be considerd 'adapted' in this case and the band awarded will be based on the housing need of the circumstances of the applicant.
