Choosing

Advertising Properties

This website will allow anyone to view all available properties across the Basildon Borough (both Council stock and nominations provided by partner RSL's.) You must however be registered with an active, assessed application to bid for properties

Properties will be advertised on a weekly basis from 00.01am on Friday (just after midnight on thursday night) until 11.59pm on Monday (just before midnight Monday) every week and will be advertised in the following ways:

  • Via Property Search on this Website
  • Direct Mailing - The council will send details by post and email to vulnerable tenants (and/or their advocates) where identified and agreed.

What do the adverts show?

The adverts tell you

  • the landlord of the property
  • location
  • size
  • rent
  • other weekly charges
  • and other features of the property to help you decide which properties are right for you.

Wherever possible we will also include photographs of the properties or a similar property type and you can access information about the local area and facilities.

Special requirements
The advert also tells you if there are any special requirements about the people who can live in the property such as age requirements.

We use symbols like these so you have an at-a glance guide to the property

The number of bedrooms in the property
The property advertised is sheltered or
extra care sheltered housing
The minimum or maximum age that an applicant must be to apply for the property (age restriction will be displayed within the icon when viewed on the Property website or the Newsletter)
   The property has a garden
Off road parking is available at the property

Accuracy of Information

Whilst every effort is made to ensure that property adverts are accurate, the Council and Registered Providers (housing associations) cannot accept responsibility for any errors.

Properties advertised may on occasion have to be withdrawn, for example if a surveyor reports that extensive works are required, or a current tenant's plans to vacate fall through.

The Council and Registered Partners also reserve the right to withdraw advertised properties for other reasons at any time, without notice.

Expressing Your Interest in a Property

You will only be able to apply for a property that is suitable for your family size and household type.

You can express your interest or bid, as it is also known, online through our website by logging into your homeseeker account using your homeseeker registration number, memorable date and password you chose. Do not tell anyone else these details.

If you see a message that says you are unable to bid this will be because you are not eligible for the size and type of property available. You will be able to search all properties available in the advertising cycle to see the bedroom sizes and types available to check if you are eligible for them. You will not be able to use the service if your application is under assessment or suspended.

For more information on bidding please see Guide to Bidding.
