Basildon Choice is the choice based lettings scheme by which social housing is allocated by Basildon Council. The scheme advertises social rented keys properties and aims to give more choice about where you live and when you move.
There is a severe shortage of housing in the area and therefore applicants who do not qualify under the new qualification criterion will need to consider all other housing options available to them. If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness then please visit Basildon Councils website homelessness and prevention, for information or contact the assessment service on 01268 533333.
Application forms to apply for social housing are available on-line and your application will be assessed according to your housing need and if you meet the strict criteria, you will be given a priority band and advised what size property you are eligible for. Once you have received your assessment you can log in to your on-line account with your Homeseeker registration number and the memorable date you chose as your password to see what properties are available. You decide which properties you would like to be considered for and can place a bid on up to 3 properties that you are eligible for in each advertising cycle. The properties are usually let to the person in the highest priority band.
